YouTube Education for Schools – Cleaner Resource Teaching

youtube-education-for-schoolsI remember back when I was at school in the 90s, watching videos in our classroom was the highlight of any week. My teacher would roll in a massive cupboard with a television inside, swing open the two doors and pop in a VHS tape, and then we’d enjoy whatever scratchy Science, English or Drama video my teacher had checked out from the school library that week. Sight, sound and motion have always had the power to engage students and complement classroom instruction by bringing educational topics to life.

So when I heard about YouTube Education – For Schools I was excited. Basically, imagine YouTube but without all the unnecessary bits like comments, views and suggested videos. Imagine the kids watching a YouTube video in class and all the distractions on the screen that would divert their attention from learning what they were supposed to be watching.

This fantastic concept I welcome with open arms. Teachers can now gain access to a vast amount of cleaned up videos which will allow our generations of the future to learn and be educated. It has a nice clean layout and with well categorised subjects for ease of use.

The project has content provided by over 600 educational outlets with subjects broken down into more than 300 teacher-friendly playlists. I personally recommend it to any educational institute and I am one to welcome the removal of VHS and DVDs from our schools. :)

Checkout the promotional video below from YouTube to see for yourself the fantastic features and educational benefits this has for our future of tomorrow.

    Hello Jason,

Thanks for the comment. I agree with getting rid of the jumble that comes with watching videos on YouTube and I certainly think this is a positive move by YouTube for the future.

    Best wishes
